What is Acupuncture?+
Acupuncture is one of the modalities of Oriental medicine. It mostly consists of the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific points shown to be effective in the treatment of specific health problems. These points have been mapped by the Chinese over a period of 2,000 years, and there are more than 1,000 known acupoints. Electromagnetic research has confirmed their existence and location.
What can acupuncture treat?+
The World Health Organization recognizes the use of acupuncture in the treatment of a wide range of common illnesses including:
- Ear, Nose, & Throat disorders
- Respiratory disorders
- Gastrointestinal disorders
- Circulatory disorders
- Urogenital disorders
- Musculoskeletal disorders
- Psycho-emotional & Neurologic disorders
How does acupuncture work?+
Modern Western medicine cannot yet fully explain how acupuncture works. Traditional Asian acupuncture is based on the flow of Qi (a fine essential substance which nourishes and constructs the body) through distinct channels. Acupuncture adjusts the flow of Qi, leading to areas where it is insufficient and draining it where stuck. In Chinese: 'If there is pain, there is no free flow; if there is free flow, there is no pain.'
Is Acupuncture safe?+
When performed by a competently trained, licensed professional, acupuncture is extremely safe. All licensed acupuncturists today use individually packaged, sterile, disposable needles.
Does acupuncture hurt?+
Acupuncture is relatively painless. The most common sensation, felt only during insertion, is comparable to a mosquito bite. Otherwise, a 'pressure' sensation is felt when the needle is inserted to the necessary depth.
How many treatments will I need?+
As many as it takes. This depends on the duration, severity, and nature of your complaint. A series of 5–10 treatments may resolve many acute problems. More chronic or degenerative conditions may require many treatments over time.
Is there anything I need to do before a treatment?+
The following suggestions will help you get the maximum benefits:
- Wear loose clothing. Women should not wear one-piece dresses and avoid stockings.
- Avoid treatment when excessively fatigued, hungry, full, or emotionally upset.
- Have some food within 1–2 hours before your treatment.
- Do not take any anti-inflammatories or painkillers prior to an acupuncture treatment.
What can I expect after a treatment?+
Patients often experience great results in the first treatment. Some patients feel immediate total or partial relief after a few treatments. In a few cases, there may be no immediate relief — only to notice the pain diminish over the next couple of days. Generally, you should expect to feel better, with cumulative treatments creating noticeable difference.
What is Intramuscular (IM) Injection Therapy?+
Intramuscular Injection Therapy involves the injection of vitamins, homeopathic supplements, or herbal medicines into the body. IM shots help boost natural defense systems, maximize physical performance, regain focus, and support the function of joints and muscles.
What can CBD Infused Massage do for me?+
Like acupuncture, massage is known to increase and improve circulation, eliminate toxins, reduce pain by increasing dopamine, reduce edema and healing time after injury, and boost white blood cell count. Combined with medical-grade CBD lotion, pain relief is maximized.
